GENERAL WAGE CLAIM

LABOUR FEDERATION TO CONSIDER PROTEST

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 20. The national council of the Federation of Labour will meet early next week to consider whether it should protest against the outcome of the federation’s efforts to obtain an earlier hearing of its claim for a general wage order. The federation sought to have its application heard before September. When the Arbitration Court could not offer a fixture earlier than September, the federation asked the Government to appoint a temporary Judge to hear the case, or amend the regulations to make any increase retrospective to the date of tne filing of the claim. These requests were refused.
