N.Z. HOSPITAL SYSTEM

COMMITTEE TO SIT IN CHRISTCHURCH FIRST SESSION TODAY The Consultative Committee on Hospital Reform will begin its Christchurch sittings today. This morning eyiaence will be presented on behalf of the Nelson Hospital Board, and Mr *’*.J-* s V e Will, a Christchurch surgeon, will give evidence on his own behalf in the afternoon. St. George’s Hospital and the Limes Hospital will also present evidence. The committee is scheduled to sit for four days in Christchurch this week. On Monday and Tuesday next week the committee will sit in Greymouth. returning to Christchurch for ° n lurst^ay possibly __The chairman of the committee is Mr H. E. Barrowclough, of Auckland. The other members are Dr. D S Wylie, Dr. P. P. Lynch; Messrs H.’ W.’ Shove, C. A. Campion, and H. S. Williams. Mr J. F. Tasker, of the Department of Health, x is secretary. The committee, which has already sat m other centres, has been asked to inquire into and report on matters affecting the administrative control of public hospitals and other services provided by hospital boards. It will make recommendations to the Government for the reform of the present system.
