MAN SURRENDERS TO POLICE

CRIMES COMMITTED IN 1948 AND 1949

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 20. A remorseful conscience that made Leslie Osborne Stone, a carrier, give himself up voluntarily, disclosed that Stone and another man were responsible for four crimes committed m 1948 and 1949, said Senior-Detective J. B. Finlay, in the Magistrate’s Court today. Stone and Gilbert Henry Preston, aged 33, a carrier, jointly admitted two charges of theft and two of breaking and entering. They stole tools, machine parts, and other goods from a workshop, warehouse and other premises, but much

had been recovered, said Senior-Detec-tive Finlay. It was “to the particular credit of both" that they had been frank with the interviewing detectives. Mr H. Jenner Wily, S.M., remanded both men for a week for sentence.
