ATTITUDE OF DR. RHEE

(Rec. 12.20 a.m.) SEOUL, July 19. Dr. Syngman Rhee summoned his Foreign Minister, Mr Pyun Yung Tai, for a conference immediately the news of the Communist proposal was announced. Mr Pyun left Dr. Rhee’s residence in Seoul after 30 minutes, but refused to comment.

One of the President’s aides told Reuter that Dr. Rhee would “never allow the entry of Indian, Polish, or Czech representatives into any territory under Republic of Korea sovereignty.” The aide, who had access to the recent talks between Dr. Rhee and Mr Robertson, said the United States had assured Dr. Rhee that the Indians, Poles and Czechs would not be brought into South Korean territory.
