SCHOOL TOURNAMENT
PAPANUI DRAWS WITH MARLBOROUGH
Honours were shared by Papanui Technical High School and Marlborough College when they met in their fourth annual winter tournament at Papanui on Saturday. Papanui won the Rugby 138 and the basketball 13-11, and Marlborough won the boys’ hockey 7-0 and the girls’ hockey 5-0. The Rugby was scrappy at first, but both teams settled down to play Bood football. Marlborough attacked strongly in the second half, but sound tackling prevented it from overtaking Papanui’s score. For Papanui, K. Marsh and J. Russ scored tries and C. Waites converted both tries and kicked a penalty goal. B. Neal and G. Eyles scored tries for Marlborough. and one of them was converted by J. Martin.
