REPARATIONS TO SOVIET

Huge Amount Taken From Germany

(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, July 16. The West German Social Democratic Party stated today that Russia had taken nearly three times as much wealth out of East Germany between 1945 and 1952 as she claimed in reparations.

The party said in a memorandum published at Bonn that Russia had taken reparations worth at least 70,970,000,000 marks (about £6.000,000,000) in those years.

The wealth acquired by the Russians was taken in dismantled machinery, the value of factories and works confiscated by the Russians and similar items, it was claimed.

Other sources were goods paid for in worthless Occupation money, or in captured German Reichsbank notes, payments to the administrations of Soviet controlled factories, the value of German patents used by the Russians, and the value of work of Germans deported to Russia.
