“NO CHILDREN ”

Sir, —I have followed with interest the discussion in your column under the heading “No Children.” “Six Children, No Property” has aired a very topical and important sociological problem. It matters little if the person letting a flat or rooms owns only one house or several, is a widow, spinster or, in fact, any member of the public. The point in debate is the “no children” clause —very seldom written, but in many cases the key to any projected tenancy. I firmly believe that under our system of a free society the family unit is the basis of the very best of ideals to which we all hold close. The placing by any person or group of fears or deterrents of any form to prevent or hinder any young married couple from exercising the natural heritage of parenthood is a sin against God, democracy and Man. —Yours, etc., CHILDREN WELCOME.
