FIJIAN BATTALION IN MALAYA
REINFORCEMENTS TO LEAVE AUCKLAND (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 22. Five Indians from Fiji, the first to serve with the Fiji Battalion in Malaya, will leave this week with a reinforcement draft. One of the Indians is a medical orderly, and the others are infantrymen. The Fijian Battalion In Malaya is commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel Ratu Edward Cakobau. M.M., who took over from Lieutenant-Colonel R. A Tinker, M.C., M.M., on June 12. Lieutenant-Colonel Cakobau, who has just been promoted from the rank of major, was secpnd-in-command of the battalion. Major H. J. C. Low, M.C., is now second-in-command.
