ARMY TOURNAMENT AT BURNHAM
INTER-DISTRICT MATCHES
Southern Military District and Northern Military District had wins when the first matches in the Army’s inter-district Rugby football tournament were played at Burnham Military Camp yesterday. In the morning Southern Military District beat Army Units. 9-6, and in the afternoon, Northern Military District beat Central Military District 37-9. The tournament will be continued on Wednesday and Friday. The tournament will also serve as trials for players for the Army team to be selected this week to play Navy and Air Force. From these matches a combined services’ team will be selected to meet the Australian Services’ team which will tour New Zealand next month. On Wednesday morning Central District will meet Army Units, and in the afternoon Southern District will meet Northern District. On Friday the matches will be between Northern and Army Units (morning), and Southern and Central. Tha Army team will be announced after these matches.
