TUBERCULOSIS ASSOCIATION
DR. W. G. RICH AGAIN PRESIDENT Dr. W. G. Rich was re-elected president of the South Island Tuberculosis Association (northern group) at the annual meeting last evening. Miss M. Enright and Mr F. S. Taylor were re-elected vice-presidents. The executive committee was elected as follows:—Canon A. H. Norris, Drs. I. C. Macintyre, D. P. Kennedy, H. E. H. Denham, and W. Smith, Miss A. M. Bowker, Messrs P. P. J. Amodeo, H. C. Brent, J. J. Cuddon, A. R. Guthrey, H. E. Perry, R. H. Truscott, C. A. Rattray, and A. H. T. Rose, and the Rev. D. D. Thorpe. The registered number of members of the association was small, but to give the strength of the supporters there must be added' the thousands of citizens who contributed either by giving to the annual street appeal or by an annual donation, stated Dr. Rich. The annual report showed that annual members this year totalled 254 and life members 85, decreases of 42 and one respectively. Dr. Rich described the funds as healthy. Set aside as a basis for convalescent home trusts was £4911. The accumulated fund of the sanatorium service committee amounted to £284 and the accumulated fund of the association to £BO4. The street appeal raised £lOB7. The total amount paid out on behalf of patients and former patients amounted to £llOB 15s sd.
