NOMINATIONS FOR EXECUTIVE

MR A. L. MATSON AGAIN PRESIDENT Mr A. L. Matson, of Christchurch, will be re-elected president for a sixth term at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Conference, which will be held at Auckland in July. Dr. M. G. Pezaro, of Auckland, and Mr O. Hutchinson, of Christchurch, will be re-elected vice-president and treasurer respectively. A ballot will be necessary to fill vacancies on the executive. In the North Island, where there are two vacancies, there have been three nominations— Messrs A. Anderson (.Wellington), A. J. Corrigan (Hawera) and J. R. Henderson (Hamilton). There are three vacancies in the South Island and six nominations have been received. They are Messrs W. S. Bennett (Marlborough), W. E. Desmond (New Brighton), T. S. Harrison (Methven), W. G. Martyn (Nelson), A. J. Nicoll (Ashburton) and W. H. Roche (Westport). Messrs Anderson, Corrigan, Desmond, Harrison and Roche are retiring members.

WAIMATE CLUB

TWO REMITS SENT TO CONFERENCE (From Our Own Reporter) „ t WAIMATE, May 22. Two remits for submission to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Conference at Auckland in July were framed at an executive meeting of the Waimate Trotting Club. The first seeks an amendment of the rules governing the qualification of maiden pacers and its effect would be that, irrespective of the tune factor, the first horse in each qualifying heat would automatically qualify. That it be a recommendation from this conference to metropolitan and other clubs that they seriously consider reverting to mid-week racing where such meetings are in excess of one day, thereby eliminating to some extent the clashing of country racing and trotting clubs which must choose a Saturday date clear of such fixtures and are forced to clash with other small clubs in the near vicinity," was the second remit to go forward. The club also decided to make application for December 12 as the date for its annual meeting. CAPTAIN SANDY FAILS TO BEAT RECORD

Captain Sandy failed by 2 l-ssec to equal Avian Derby s Australian record for a flying mile at Harold Park, Sydney, on Wednesday night.
