MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING
NORTH CANTERBURY TOURNAMENT
RESULTS OF FIRST ROUND MATCHES
Shooting in the North Canterbury Miniature Rifle Association’s winter tournament began recently, when the first round of matches in the four competitions was fired. There was a total entry of 40 teams, compared with 42 last season, and there was a noticeable improvement in the scoring compared with last year. Possibles were scored by W. A. Morton and V. R. Bragg (Kaikoura), R. Burnett (Cheviot), R. St. John and W. Foster (Scargill), I. K. Dunbar and R. Baker (Waiau), R. Fletcher (Glenmark and Mrs Burnip (Waikari). The following were the team scores:—
Senior.—Kaikoura 397, Scargill 395, Cheviot 394, Waiau 393, Glenmark 391, Waikari 387, Hawarden 382. Junior.—Scargill 390, Glenmark No. I 390, Rotherham 390, Waikari 387, Glenmark No. 2 386, Kaikoura 385, Waiau No. 1. 382, Cheviot 381, Waikari No. 2 380, Hundalee 377, Hawarden 377, Waiau No. 2 375.
President's Grade—Scargill 383, Hawarden 376, Waiau 372, Glenmark No. 1 371. Domett 367, Kaikoura 363, Glenmark No. 2 363, Domett No. 2 361, Waikari 961.
Women's Teams Competition.—Cheviot 308, Kaikoura 307, Waikari 304, Waiau 301, Rotherham 289, Glenmark 278. Culverden team scores in all grades were not available. The following decisions were given by the target judges: K. Kidd 79, J. Inkson 76, F. Trounce 76, E. Devine 68, K. Wright 74, W. K. Reardon 58. T. Tomlinson 69, C. Tomlinson 73, J. Rule 79, H.
