Twin Jet, which is engaged in the Albury Handicap, recorded the best sprint time when she dashed over three furlongs in 39 4-ssec. The Airway filly, which has shown speed in her races, has yet to become solid. She was accompanied by Fortnight, a three-year-old halfbrother by Broiefort to Lancaster. He has had one start, in which he finished fourth, in a two-year-old handicap at Stratford last season.
Royal Monarch, which will have his next start at the Wingatui meeting, is coming to hand nicely. With an advantage in the weights, he finished on to shade Lancaster by a neck at the end of half a mile in 63 4-ssec, the last three furlongs in 41 l-ssec.
Lancaster was given a spell after racing at Trentham in January. He will have his next start in the Rosewill Hack Handicap on Saturday. The Beau Vite gelding looks much better than when he arrived at Wingatui. The Fair's Fair colt. Sir Galahad, a candidate for the St. Andrews Handicap, covered the same ground alone in 54 l-ssec, the concluding three furlohgs in 41 4-ssec. He may need more time before he shows his best form.
Aranga finished on terms with her stablemate. Set Fair, at the end of five furlongs. She galloped the last three furlongs in 43sec. Robin Redbreast, a candidate for the Otago Steeplechase, was impressive in a run over eight fences. He does not usually show up in his track work, but he jumped exceptionally well at a strong pace. He was accompanied by his stablemate, Royal Venture, which was disappointing after his excellent trial over the same fences last week.
