COUNTY COUNCIL ELECTIONS
REVISION OF PAPARUA ROLL The 1950 electors’ roll would have to be completely revised during the next two months, said the County Clerk (Mr A. Kelly), in a report to a meeting of the Paparua County Council. “Though further amendments to existing legislation governing the control of elections is expected in the coming session of Parliament, it is not anticipated that this will affect the Sroceaure provided for the compilaon of the electors’ roll,” said Mr Kelly. “In general, all adult ratepayers and residents of the county are entitled to vote at county elections. Ratepayers and tenants of State houses have their names placed on the electors’ roll without further action on their part. Residents, however, must enrol, otherwise they will be unable to vote at the elections. “It is proposed to carry into the 1953 roll the name's of residents appearing in the 1950 roll, and to forward to every household in the county a circular letter explaining the position and enclosing enrolment forms to enable the many residents who have not yet enrolled, to do so,” said Mr Kelly.
