EAST GERMANY’S REFUGEES
Dr. Adenauer Seeks U.S. Assistance (Rec. 8 p.m.) WASHINGTON. April 8. The West German Chancellor (Dr. Adenauer) today asked for United States help in dealing with the problem of refugees pouring into the Western sector of Berlin from Communist Germany. He outlined what the West German Government was doing to meet the problem, but said that outside help was needed. The German delegation is understood to be asking for a big sum, in the form of a grant or a loan, to assist its Government in meeting the cost of relief, rehabilitation, and housing for the refugees.
