GAME SEASON DATES

Game shooting seasons for the North Canterbury district were announced at a meeting of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society last evening. The season for grey, paradise, mallard and spoonbill duck will open on May 2 and will last until May 24, that for cock pheasant from May 2 to June 1, for pukeko from May 2 to June 7, for Californian quail from May 30 to July 20, and for black swan, chukor, and Canadian geese, from May 2 to July 26. The bag limit for all species of duck is 15 head including a combined limit bag of 10 grey and spoonbill, and a limit of five paradise duck. 1716 bag for Californian quail is limited to 10 and to three for cock pheasant. There is no limit on the number of black swan, pukeko, or Canadian geese which may be taken.
