NEW PARTY IN AUSTRALIA

PLAN TO CONTEST SENATE POLL (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, March 11. A. new political party, the Democratic Party of Australia, will contest the Senate elections. The New South Wales general secretary (Major E. K. Hatfield) said last night that the party had been officially launched on a Commonwealth-wide basis. The party opposes the taxation policy of the Liberal Party, and opposes the Labour Party on socialisation. Its main objectives are to reduce all forms of taxation; to check and control all forms of monopoly, whether under private or public ownership; to maintain full employment and the 40hour week; to free the Australian £ and make it convertible throughout the world; and to restore primary production and reduce the concentration of population in the main cities.
