295-Acre Block To Be Developed SITES FOR 600 HOMES (New Zealand Press Association) WEUJNGTON, March 10. ine Government has almost completed the purchase of*a block of 295 acres at Porirua for State housing. Il is the last remaining part of the farm owned by Messrs E. and T. Windley, who about 1948 sold 54 acres for State housing. , new block is expected to provide about 600 house sites. It has not yet been surveyed for development, but this work is likely to be done soon. Tenders will probably be called for the first part of the road construction within a month or two. Most of the property is about two miles from the Porirua railway statlori‘ ad J oi ns to the east the present State housing development block, which consisted of part of the farm of Messrs R. and H. Maungavin, and pa ££ °O^ e Windley property. Tne 295-acre Windley property will l- e block in the PoriruaTitahi Bay district to be developed by tne Crown for housing since the Second World War. The five blocks will provide a total of about 2110 house sites. Houses have either been erected or are under construction on about 700 of these. One block consists of land formerly owned by Mr J. H. Marshall at Titah) Bay, on the north-eastern side of the mam road. This has been divided into about 300 house sites. About 160 homes have been built, and about 70 m ore are under construction.
