STRAVINSKY’S MUSIC

Sir d —“C.F.B.” makes a peculiar report of the music of Stravinsky. To me. and to others, , too, Stravinsky’s socalled “music" is simply a clash of discords, with no meaning in it. Discord to start with, discord to finish with. The players were fine artists. How could they devote hours to such stuff? We needed, after that item, to see a fine orchestra yes, and our two performers included in it, to perform that splendid introduction to the “Messiah," followed by the Pastoral Symphony and the Hallelujah Chorus, in which the audience joined. A _good many people did not clap Stravinsky’s “music.” One lady saia she could have called out against it. We do not want any more of Stravinsky, so thank you. —Yours, etc.. L.R.S.M. March 9. 1953.
