INCOME TAX
Sir,— l am glad to learn from “By the Wayside’s” letter that he has also been over the hard road in 1910, doing good pioneer work for 10s a week. When I travelled the same in 2902 to 1904 wages were lower. I got only 6s a Week; but there is nothing like it to give a man a good sound health foundation to enable him to enjoy a little luxury in his later years. “By the Wayside” suggests I get hold of some income tax demands. Let me tell, him I have had my 1952 tax demand and paid it. If “By the Wayside” looks up the scale of tax payable on a taxable income of £3OO he will find my net figures of £2B 6s 3d correct and his £32 wrong; and the Income Tax Department will have no refunds to’ make.—Yours, etc., 60 YEARS A WORKER. Rakaia, March 9, 1953.
