COST OF LIVING
Sir,—l read with interest the eulogies of Mr Holland, when he addressed the Chamber of Commerce. The excellent
prosperous position of business makes bitter reading to the Nefo Zealand housewife making do on the basic wage. Is it not time that the Prime Minister heard our story? The Canterbury Housewives’ Union could not give him a dinner; our finances are too low. We could give him an excellent supper if he would care to address us. We can furnish facte as to our financial position, on the basic wage, in this land of business prosperity. . We are citizens, too, affected badly by present high prices and low wages; and our point of view is important. —Yours, etc., MAY E., FUREY.
