CONCERT PARTY IN KOREA
Performance North Of Im jin River (N.Z. Army Information Service) KOREA, March 6. Undisturbed by the sporadic crash of gunfire overhead the New Zealand concert party this week put on a performance north of the Im jin river in the regimental cinema of the 16th New Zealand Field Regiment. Normally concert parties are not allowed 'north of the Imjin river, but the rule was waived on this occasion as the majority of K Force men are in this area. Soldiers with rifles slung on their shoulders or sten guns in their hands overflowed the cinema and many outside peeped through cracks in the walls for a view of the show inside. They were piled to the roof with men clinging to the cross-beams from stacked ammunition cases. Indeed, one of the rafters collapsed with a crash in the audience. New Zealanders rubbed shoulders with British, Canadian and American troops and Korean odd job boys and their applause was a just reward for the party’s special efforts to put on this performance near the battle front.
