CANTERBURY COLLEGE DRAMA SOCIETY

Sir,—l do sincerely appreciate the sentiments of Robin Brassington but, in fairness to other societies, it should be made clear that (1) their committees have probably not yet met, and (2) they may be awaiting a formal appeal from us. It is therefore no reflection on their goodwill that we have not yet received offers of assistance. Much more important in our eyes is the impression, already publicly denied, that the society is dead. Nonsense. Within 72 hours of the fire an emergency committee had met to discuss future plans. By July at the latest, we shall be playing again, playing “Caesar” under Miss Ngaio Marsh. It is now up to the public to show ’ who is dead. — Yours, etc., OWEN LEEMING, Chairman, Canterbury College Drama Society. -February 21, 1953.
