PAPANUI PARISH HALL
CENTENNIAL YEAR PROJECT A further step towards the completion of the parish centre at St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Papanui, will be undertaken this year. Under the new contract a main hall of 32ft by 60ft will be built adjoining the new rooms already erected near the church. There will also be an entrance vestibule, classrooms, a committee room and a parish office built with the hall. Because of the rise in costs it will not be possible to complete the whole project in the meantime. It is hoped that the main hall may be completed before the parish’s centennial celebrations, which will be observed at All Saints-tide in November of this year. Plans are being made to raise the money needed. The hall is to be of a simple modern design, built in brick veneer with reinforced concrete ribs, so that no tie-beams will be required. The architects are Messrs Pascoe and Hall.
