ABBEY SEATS FOR CORONATION
BALLOT HELD AMONG PEERS LONDON, January 1». Peers and peeresses haVe been notified by the Earl Marshal whether they have been successful or not in the ballot for seats in Westminster Abbey at the Coronation. The Earl Marshal supervised the ballot last week at his office in Belgrave square after it had been found that not enough peers had volunteered for seats in the stands in Parliament square to make a ballot unnecessary. Those successful in the ballot are entitled also to apply for two seats in an adjacent uncovered stand, for each of which a charge of £4 is made. Those not to be summoned to the , Abbey are offered two free seats in a covered stand in Parliament square and two further seats for £6 each. It is unlikely that there will be an official announcement on the actual number of peers who were excluded by the ballot.
