HOLIDAY FROM POLITICS
Sir Arthur Fadden Visiting N.Z. INTERVIEW WITH PRESS REFUSED (New Zealand Press Association) # AUCKLAND. January 20. The Australian Federal Treasurer (Sir Arthur Fadden) arrived at Auckland by air this morning for a short holiday. He called on the Mayor of Auckland (Sir John Allum) this afternoon. Tomorrow he will leave with Lady Fadden and their daughter, Miss Betty Fadden, fbr Wairakei, to fish for trout at Huka Lodge.
From there the programme is still indefinite, apart from a State luncheon soon in Wellington. Sir Arthur Fadden does not even know yet how long he will stay in New Zealand. “I’ll see now much good it is doing me,” he said. He thinks he may be here for* about a fortnight. Sir Arthur Fadden refused a formal interview on the policies and problem® of the Australian Government. “I have nothing for you, boys,” he told reporters. at all—nothing that wouldn’t be misinterpreted on the other side.”
