LABOUR PARTY AND PEACE
Sir,--As another one of the “misguided, mistaken,” etc., peace advocates, I wish to support the sentiments °L : i Johnson on the attitude of the Officials of the Labour Party ■ concerning so-called collective security, as advocated through the Americandominated United Nations. Some months ago I affirmed that a Re-publican-dominated American Congress would be a grave danger to peace in the Pacific area. That is now an accomplished fact. In the meantime the Anzus Council has been set up. Ttys specifically excludes Britain. The doubts expressed in Parliament by the Opposition are mild compared with those expressed in responsible British journals. As a lifelong member of thp Labour Party, I an ?. appalled at the lack of effective criticism from this quarter. The character of Dulles’s diplomacy differs little in principle from Russia's in Eastern Europe—economic aid, defensive pact, then involvement in war, as in Korea.—Yours, etc., November 11, 1952.
