CULL CATTLE
RETENTION ON FARMS ADVISED (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 11. The general manager of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board (Mr J. J. Evans) said today that the board would advise farmers to retain their cull cattle until meat exporters knew what prices they would get for the meat products manufactured from these beasts.
Prices for the manufactured meat will be based on the price for corned meat which the British Ministry of Food fixes, first with Australia, and then with New Zealand.
The Ministry, in a cablegram received in Wellington today, said it could not see its way clear to negotiate the corned meat prices till February or March.
