DEMOCRATS IN CONGRESS
Some Support For Mr Eisenhower
(Rec. 11 p.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. 10. An indication that Mr Eisenhower is likely to get the support of Democrats in Congress—on which he is counting heavily—was given today by Senator Burnet Maybank (Democrat, South Carolina).
Senator Maybank told reporters: “Mr Eisenhower has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to get along with members of both parties in Congress. The situation is not quite the same now, but I believe he will make out all right.
“I think he is going to get a lot of support from Democrats generally. Personally, it is my intention to support all sound recommendations Mr Eisenhower makes for the good of the country and constitutional legislation.”
