LAWN TENNIS
AMERICANS’ MATCHES AT WELLINGTON
REQUEST FOR ROBSON TO PLAY REFUSED (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 11.
The Wellington Lfrwn Tennis Association wanted the national champion, J. E. Robson, to play in Wellington against the American Davis Cup players, but the New Zealand Association would not accede to this request. This was revealed last evening in a re- x port to the Wellington Association by Mr C. S. Plahk, who managed the - exhibition matches played between the Americana and J. A. Barry and G. E. Worthington at Central Park, on November 3. Further comment on the position and other aspects of the matches was denied the newspapers because of a ban by the New Zealand Association on any criticism of the national body being made, at association meetings which are open to the newspapers.
