CENTENNIAL POOL LIGHTING
IMPROVEMENT SOUGHT The baths committee of the Christchurch City Council will be invited to inspect the lighting of the centennial pool while water polo is being played. This decision was made at a meeting of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association last evening, when members agreed that the present lighting was totaUy inadequate for water polo and bad for any type of event. “Overhead lights are really needed, but I doubt if the council will go to the expense of putting in the proper standards that would be required to carry such lights,” said Mr M. Duckmanton. “They have got to get it into their heads that they will have to spend some money on the pool,” said Mr J. W. Cain. “If they laid the foundation stone tomorrow it would be five years before the building was finished.” “The foundation stone has already been laid,” said Mrs L. Piper. "The foundation stone has just about been lost,” said a delegate. The centre decided to invite the baths committee to inspect the lighting on the evening of November 24.
