SOUTH ISLAND TOURNEY WON BY R. WEIR
Scoring an additional two points in the final round of the South Island draughts championship yesterday, R. Weir won the championship with a total of 14J points. J. Dowie, with 13 points. Was second. The South Island handicap was won by W. McArthur, with a total of 14 points (9 points, handicap 5). Runners-up were A. Collins (6 points, handicap 5) and P. D. Ewen (7 points, handicap 4), each with a total of 11.
