SOUTH ASIAN DEFENCE
WASHINGTON TALKS END ( Rec- 7 .p.m.) WASHINGTON. Oct. 20. The secret five-Power military conference on South-east Asia ended at the week-end. Military officers from Britain, France, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand, met on October 6 to discuss the military situation and plan the Allied strategy against communism in the area, particularly in Indo-China. The conference was one of a series which began early last year in Washington. The United States Defence Department said that no statement would be made about the latest conference.
