SURF LIFE-SAVING
PROPOSAL TO CHANGE N.Z. HANDBOOK (New Zealand Press Association) WELINGTON, October 21. The New Zealand Surf Life-Saving Association will vote at its annual meeting in Wellington during the weekend on a remit seeking- the abolition of the present handbook and its replacement by the Australian one. This will mean the adoption of the Australian life-saving method, which incorporates the Holger-Nielsen method. The difference in methods employed in life-saving drill in Australia and New Zealand has created problems for some years in contests between the two countries. Mr Ken Watson, secretary of the Australian Surfing Association, will arrive in Wellington on Friday to attend the meeting and give the Australian view.
