K FORCE COMMANDER

BRIGADIER PARK’S RETURN ON LEAVE (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 8. The command of K Force will be retained by Brigadier R. S. Park, according to reports reaching New Zealand from Korea and Japan. Brigadier Park is expected to return to New Zealand soon on 28 days’ leave. It is not known who will hold the command during his absence. The next senior officer in K Force is Lieutenant-Colonel R. McK. Paterson, Commanding Officer of the 16th Field Regiment. Brigadier Park has held the appointment since K Force was raised more than two years ago. When appointed he had retired from the Regular Force after being commandant of the Northern Military District. Except for a few men, the replacement of the original force was completed on September 13. Brigadier Park is expected to return with these men this month.
