SHOOTING OF BIRDS

Sir,—Regarding the letter which appeared in “The Press” on Friday, October 3, by “Down with Cruelty,” I think it a shame that these people who go about killing these defenceless birds cannot find something better and more useful to do. What a sportsman to shoot a bird when it was gathering food for its young! I think the particular person who shot the magpie in question should see a brain specialist. His mental condition must be very low indeed; and instead of going to Korea, as suggested, he would be safer being looked after where there are no firearms.—Yours, etc., BIRD LOVER. October 1 7, 1952.
