UNION COMPANY MASTERS
THREE RETIREMENTS ANNOUNCED (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 7. The Union Steam Ship Company has announced the retirement of three of its masters—Captains W. E. Jones, W. Johnson, and T. S. Mac Nicol. Captain Jones was formerly master of the freighter Wairimu. Captain Johnson recently brought the new freighter Kurutai to New Zealand. He commanded ships in the inter-island steamer express service from 1946 to October, 1951. Captain Mac Nicol relinquishes the command of the WaiporL He will live in Christchurch.
