FIRE IN DRAPERY STORE

DAMAGE OF £25,000 AT BLENHEIM (New* Zealand Press Association) BLENHEIM, October 6. Damage estimated at £25,000 was caused tonight by a fire which swept through the premises of Millers Drapery, Ltd., Blenheim, about 10.30 p.m. The stock, estimated at £22,000. was destroyed, and the building, extending from Market street north, one of the town’s main business streets, almost to Alfred street, was extensively damaged. The origin of the fire is unknown, but it spread rapidly from the rear and at one stage threatened the adjoining premises of Tomlinson and Gifford and Hallenstein Bros. Several leads of hose were used, but it was about an hour before the fire was brought under control.
