PERSIAN OIL DISPUTE

Loan Request By Dr. Mussadiq

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) TEHERAN, Sept. 9.

The Persian Prime Minister (Dr. Mussadiq) is reported to have asked Britain and the United States to revise the oil proposals they made 10 days ago and demanded an immediate loan of about 100,000,090 dollars. Dr. Mussadiq told the British Charge d’Affaires in Jeheran (Mr George Middleton) that Britain and the United States should act before the Majlis meets on Wednesday to consider the earlier offer which the Prime Minister has denounced as the worst of all possible solutions.

Persian newspapers are optimistic that a solution will be»found shortly. Commentators predict that Britain and America will modify their proposals. One newspaper reported that Dr. Schacht, the German financial expert who was Hitler’s Finance Minister, is shortly due to arrive in ±eheran at the invitation of Dr. Mussadiq to plan the restoration of Persia’s economy without the oil revenues. A Berlin report said that Dr. Schacht left Hamburg by air for Teheran at the invitation of the Persian Government.

The same newspaper said that Dr. Mussadiq is expected to undertake the replanning of the economy on these lines if no solution to the oil deadlock is ap irent in a fortnight.
