SPORTS EVENING HELD BY CRICHTON COBBERS
The Crichton Cobbers Club held a sports evening in its clubrooms on Monday. In addition to boxing and wrestling bouts, a demonstration of ju-jitsu and judo was presented by Messrs F. O’Connell and S. Fecko and pupils of the club. During the interval items were played by the club’s band, conducted by Mr Fred Turner, and two boys aged nine played a cornet duet. Boxing and wrestling results were as follows: Boxing.—Welter-weight: J. Finlay beat R. Mitchell. L.ight heavy-weight: P. Smith beat D. Millar. Catch-weight: W. Williams beat B. Leathern. Light welterweight: W. Hill beat W. Hastie. Mr E. Pocock was referee.
Wrestling.—Light-weight: J. Lanini beat L. Wynn. Welter-weight: J. Hickey beat D. Wild. Light heavy-weight: W. McNairn beat R. Robinson. Heavy-weight: G. Melrose drew with J. Mclnnes. The referee was Mr P. Harrison.
