N.Z. WOMEN’S INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. «. The highlight of the second day of the national women’s indoor basketball championships at Hamilton to-day was the game betwen Wellington, the North Island title-holder, and Canterbury, the South Island champions. After a particularly skilful display, Wellington won, 25-18. The progress championship points at present are:— A Grade.—Wellington 6; Otago, Southland, Palmerston ‘North, and Auckland, 2 each; Cantertbury 0. Reserve Grade.—Hutt Valley, Nelson. Waikato (Hamilton), and Waikato Central (Morrinsville), 4 each; Hawke’s Bay, Marlborough. and Wanganui. 2 each. B Grade.—Auckland, Wairarapa A. and Gisborne, 6 each; Canterbury, Wairarapa B, and Wellington. 4 each; Waikato (Hamilton), and Otago, 2 each; Palmerston North, Taranaki, and Waikato Central (Morrinsville), 0.

To-day’s results were:— A Grade.—Auckland 32, Southland 16; Wellington 31, Palmerston North 13; Wellington 25, Canterbury 18; Southland 31, Palmerston North 28.

Reserve Grade.—Marlborough 31, Wanganui 21; Hawke’s Bay 27. Hutt Valley 14; Nelson 39, Waika,to Central (Morrinsville) 32; Hutt Valley 18. Waikato Central 17; Waikato (Hamilton) 33, Hawke’s Bay 14. B Grade.—Gisborne 37. Auckland 18; Canterbury 30. Waikato Central 13; Gisborne 30, Otago 17; Wairarapa B 23, Palmerston North 12; Wairarapa B 27, Taranaki 16; Wairarapa A 48, Palmerston North 7; Wellington 25, Waikato (Hamilton) 20; Auckland 18.
