The New Zealand women’s champion, Miss Joyce Williamson, easily won her first round women’s singles match in the Australian table tennii championships to-dav when ahe beat the No. 4 Queensland player, Miss D. Weatherley, 21-8, 21-12. Miss Williamson also won her first round doubles game, partnered by Miss P. Cathcart, of New South Wales. The Australian title-holder, Phil Anderson (Queensland), was soundly beaten 2-0 by a South Australian seeded player. M. Calonius, in the teams’ matches. However. Anderson then beat the South Australian title-holder. V. Laarihg. The teams’ title scores were:—Men: New South Wales beat South Australia. 8-3. Women: Victoria beat West Australia 10-1. New South Wales beat Tasmania 11-0, Queensland beat South Australia 6-5.
