UNION BALLOT IN VICTORIA
(Rec. 7 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Sept. 9. The defeated Communist candidate for the presidency of the Victorian branch of the Australian Railways Union. Mr J. R. Williams, will take legal action against what he claims as irregularities in a recent Court-con-ducted ballot in which he was defeated by 46 votes in the total number of 12.000 cast. The Labour Party industrial group candidate. Mr P. J. Fogarty, won. The union secretary. Mr J. J Brown, also a Communist, says that he has enough sworn affidavits from members who had not received ballot papers and who would have voted for Mr Williams, to alter, the count.
