COCKTAIL PARTY

NELSON COLLEGE OLD BOYS Old boys of Nelson College, representative of many decades of the school’s life, met at the Returned Services’ Association’s rooms, Gloucester street, on Saturday to entertain visiting old boys who are in Christchurch to attend the quadrangular football tournament that began on Saturday and will end to-day. The party was arranged by the local branch of the Old Boys’ Association, of which Mr P. M. Mac Shane is president and Mr G. W. A. Green is secretary. The visitors were received by Mrs Mac Shane and Mr J. B. Williams (immediate past president) and Mrs Williams. Mrs Mac Shane wore a frock of beige wool crepe and a closefitting brown hat with large chou at the side of the front, and Mrs Williams wore a frock of striped blue and grey wool sheer with tiny white satin cellar and a small navy hat. The wives of members of the committee had decorated the room and the tables with mixed flowers beautifully arranged. Mr H. V. Searle (principal of the college), who received a rousing welcome, was accompanied by Mrs Searle, and other visitors included Mr H. F. Horler (chairman of the Nelson College Council of Governors) and Mrs Horler, Mr L. R. Palmer (Dominion president of the Old Boys’ Association), Mr C. F. S. Caldwell (coach of the team) and Mrs Caldwell, Dr. W. Stoney Johnston and his son, the Rev. T. Johnston, Mr and Mrs Frank Allan, Mr G. Samuel, Mr and Mrs Eric Coote, Mr and Mrs John Clark (Richmond), Mr and Mrs Jack Slee (Westport), Mr and Mrs T. H. Moffatt (West Melton). Messrs F. Hamilton, Alex Newman, Jack Newman (Nelson), A. A. McNab (Blenheim), G. M. Lloyd (Dunedin)- Darcy Stace and Harry Stace (Marlborough). G. A. B. Hoby (Oamaru). and E. R. Curtis (Waimate).
