Sir John Cockcroft, Director of the Atomic Research Station at Harwell England, will deliver the first Rutherford Memorial Lecture in the hall of the Auckland University College on September 8. He will speak on the industrial application of nuclear energy.—(P. A.) Dr. R. Winterbourn, the new Canterbury University College representative on the Board of Managers of the Avonside Girls’ High School, was welcomed at a meeting of the board, last evening. Dr. Winterbourn was appointed to the vacancy caused by the death of Mr A. E. Flower.
