BRITISH LOCAL ELECTIONS
TREND TO LABOUR CONTINUES ’ (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, May 11. The swing towards the Left in British local government continues, with the results of urban district council elections yesterday showing more Labour gains. Labour secured control of fewer towns than in the borough council elections on May 8, when they ousted the Conservatives and Independents from 19 councils, but they reduced the majorities in many areas. The results declared early to-day showed that Labour had gained 112 seats and lost only five, the Conservaties had lost 80 and gained 14, and the Independents had lost 43 and gained two.
Price of Antimony Reduced.—The new prices for antimony, effective from May 13 will be: 99 per cent.. £270 a ton (a reduetion ef £35); erude, £240 (a reduction of £2o).—London, May 10.
