MINOR FIRES
Five minor fires were extinguished by the Christchurch Fire Brigade yesterday At 7.3 a.m„ a call was received to a motor-car owned by Mr Archie Robinson, which was parked outside 250 Worcester street. Slight damage was done to the engine of the car and the paintwork of its bonnet. A call was received at 11.54 a.m. to 41 Leaver terrace, the property of Vera Scott, where a fence was on fire. Units from the New Brighton and headquarters stations extinguished this fire. At 6.34 p.m., a fire was reported in a truck belonging to the British Petroleum Company, Ltd., in Southwark street. Damage was done to the upholstery of the truck. A fire in a liehtly-constructed garage owned by Mr C. Scott, in Eton place, off Manchester street, was reported at 7.44 p.m. Severe damage was done to the garage and to the tyres and tools in it. At 8.43 p.m., the brigade’s New Brighton unit was called to a rubbish fire on the river bank, which was extinguished without difficulty.
