COLOMBO STREET CROSSING
OVERBRIDGE SUGGESTED The construction of an overbridge at the Colombo street railway crossing has been considered further by the Automobile Association (Canterbury), and statistics dealing with delays at the crossing have been compiled. In a statement issued by the president of the association (Mr W. R. Carey) it is suggested that a road bridge or an elevated roadway should replace the present crossing. Figures were obtained on April 17 and 18 from 7.45 a.m. to 5.45 p.m., and it was observed that the time lost on the two days was 102 J minutes and 105 minutes. “This represents approximately IB per cent, of the period of 10 hours covered by each aailv tally.” said the statement. The matter had become serious and should call for some early amelioration.
