RACING AND TROTTING

PROGRAMME FOR DALRAY • AUSTRALIAN TRIP STILL LIKELY DECISION TO BE MADE AT TRENTHAM If he races satisfactorily at the Wellington Racing Club’s autumn meeting the champion three-year-old, Dalray, may yet race in Australia this season. Space has been booked for the Balloch colt in the Monowai, which will leave Wellington for Sydney three days after the second day of the Wellington meeting. If the trip takes place Dalray will do his racing at the Australian Jockey Club's four-day autumn meeting on April 12, 14, 16 and 19. He has Bst 21b in the Sydney Cup, which will be run on the second day (Easter Monday).

Other races which would suit Dalray at this meeting are the A.J.C; St. Leger on the first day, the Cumberland Stakes, one mile and threequarters on the third day, and the A.J.C. Plate, two miles and a quarter on the concluding day. The Cumberland Stakes and the A.J.C. Plate are run under standard weight-for-age conditions. Dalray was taken north on his wav to Trentham last evening by his Riccarton trainer, C. C. McCarthy, and accompanying him were his two-year-old brother and Trench Fray, an acceptor for the Thompson Handicap on the first day of the Wellington meeting. Dalray’s brother is being taken on the trip for experience. Also in McCarthy’s care on the trip was Modern Times, which is trained by J. Smith for Mr W. R. Toon. Won at Riccarton Modern Times, a winner at Riccarton at his last start, is an acceptor for the Tinakori Hack Handicap on Saturday. Other Riccarton gallopers to go north last night were V. Neale’s pair. Gay Admiral and Indian Scholar, and the two-vear-old Convair, which is trained by H. W. Hibberd. Indian Scholar and Gay Admiral, both owned by Mr A. Clouston, ran in the Parkinson Hack Handicap at Motukarara on Saturday. Gay Admiral did better of the two. finishing fifth. Convair at his last start ran Major Neptune to a nose tn the Middle Park Plate at Riccarton on February 2. Twenty-three South Island horses with engagements at Trentham are booked to go north to-night. They include Entrancing and Field Chief, impressive winners of the principal events at the Banks Peninsula meeting on Saturday. . Field Chief, one of A. E.
