BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL

ANNUAL MEETING OF PARENTTEACHER ASSOCIATION The trustees of the Boys’ High School Parent-Teacher Association hold £2700 for the completion of the assembly hall, according to the annual report of the association presented at the annual meeting. It was reported that the Government was making a grant to enable the building to be completed during the year. It was reported that the construction of the new Caddick Wing for geography, art and music was well forward and the building should be in use later in the year. Acting on the suggestion of the headmaster (Mr J. Leggat) that a lunch room or cafeteria would be a worth-while undertaking, the committee held a garden party in October and raised more than £5OO for the purpose. At present there was no suitable place for the boys to have their lunches, particularly during the cold weather. The headmaster (Mr Leggat), in a talk, referred to the value of parents meeting the masters, especially the careers master. He asked parents to take an interest in their sons’ work both at school and at home. He emphasised the need for homework to be done without the distraction of radio and other home activities.
